Convent of Christ Castle in Tomar, Portugal. Built in 1160 as a stronghold for the Knights Templar, it became the headquarters of the renamed Order of Christ. In 1983, it was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

最终的决战爆发于公元1241年4月9日，地点在今天波兰西里西亚地区的小城里格尼茨（Legnica）郊外。里格尼茨之战于当天开始，又于当天结束。
对于蒙古人来讲，这是一场常规速胜。
对于波兰人来讲，这是一次莫大的耻辱。
战役结束打扫战场，为了便于统计人数，蒙古人割下了波兰德意志联军阵亡士兵们的右耳。这些血淋淋的人体器官加在一起，足足装了九个麻袋。亨利二世曾经试图逃生，但却被蒙古骑兵割下了首级。蒙古人将这位末日贵族的头颅插到长矛之上，并带到里格尼茨小城示众。
至此，波兰全境沦亡。
