我们先来看看文豪取得OVERMAN的数据吧，大家都知道OM的数据一直在更，且带夸大和吹水，一直不为德国官方和各国所承认,OM自己也表示了这一点。

而可笑的是，1974年苏联自己的一份资料宣称1945年苏消灭了100万德军，考虑到苏毛冷战期间资料的可靠性和该统计已经包括德军当年1月损失，并把之前的战俘全部计算为不可恢复损失来计算，则德军以指挥链传递上去的总损失应当略低于300万。
当然同那些质疑以指挥链传递上去统计存在大量缺失的俄国学者一样，Overman也认为应当利用Deutsche Dienststelle (WASt)（has been responsible for providing information for the families of those military personnel who were killed or went missing in the war.）的数据来进行统计调查，这一数据本质上和俄罗斯国防部档案馆那份利用逐个士兵卡片进行统计的统计方式是一样的。
overman所给出的数字被认为是偏高估了（由于人手和经费限制他采用的是抽检，抽了近5000张卡片，而不是苏俄国防部档案馆对应部门那样丧心病狂的逐家调查加六七十年来不断的修正。
